Focus and scope overview

Verbum et Ecclesia is a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary theological journal that aims to interrelate the various theological and religious disciplines within the international arena, serving as a platform for critical research around the connections that exist between religion and society. Examples of such connections can be found through the application of various Humanities-, Social- and Natural Science principles to theological practices.

 Audience

This broad focus expands the borders of focused theological research by combining theological disciplines with other scientific disciplines – focussing Verbum et Ecclesia's efforts on publishing research articles in all the fields pertaining to theology, biblical languages, philosophy and patristic studies which are relevant to churches and societies.

ISSN and eISSN

The international standard serial number (ISSN) for Verbum et Ecclesia is 1609-9982, and the electronic international standard serial number (eISSN) is 2074-7705.

 Publication frequency

Verbum et Ecclesia publishes one issue per year. Individual articles are published as soon as they are ready for publication by adding them to the table of contents of the 'current' volume and issue. In this way, Verbum et Ecclesia aims to speed up the process of manuscript publication from submission to becoming available on the website. Special issues may be added on an ad hoc basis to the journal throughout a particular year which will form part of consecutive issues thereafter.
