Prof dr Georg Braulik

Georg Braulik became a member of the Benedictine Abbey “zu den Schotten” in Vienna in 1959 and was ordained as a priest in 1965. He studied theology at the Catholic Faculty at the University of Vienna and the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He holds a doctorate in Church History (Vienna) and Old Testament Studies (Rome). He completed his habilitation in Old Testament Studies at the University of Vienna and was appointed as professor in 1976 at the Catholic Faculty of Theology where he taught till his retirement in 2004. In 2006 he received an honorary doctorate (Dr.h.c.) from the Philosophisch-Theologischen Hochschule Sankt Georgen (Frankfurt am Main, Germany). He has published more than 160 articles in scholarly journals. He is furthermore the author and co-author of more than 20 books. Together with Prof Norbert Lohfink he has compiled an “analytical bibliography to Deuteronomy” (http://www.univie.ac.at/anabideut/).
