Dr. Christopher M. Hays is professor of New Testament at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia in Medellín. He holds degrees in Ancient Languages (BA, summa cum laude), Biblical Exegesis (MA), and Theological Studies (MA) from Wheaton College in Illinois, USA, and has as DPhil in New Testament Studies from the University of Oxford. He worked as a wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter on the Faculty of Church History at the University of Bonn before returning to the Faculty of Theology at the University of Oxford as a British Academic Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2010-2013).

A New Testament scholar with strong cross-disciplinary interests (patristics, ethics, science, economics), Dr. Hays specializes in the field of Christian wealth ethics. He is the author of Luke’s Wealth Ethics (Mohr Siebeck, 2010) and a fellow of the Centre for Enterprise, Markets, and Ethics, an Oxford-based think-tank. He is co-editor of Evangelical Faith and the Challenge of Historical Criticism (SPCK/Baker Academic, 2013), co-editor of Sensitivity to Outsiders: The Dynamic Relationship of Mission and Ethics in the New Testament and Early Christianity (Mohr Siebeck, 2014), and editor of When the Son of Man Didn’t Come (Fortress, 2015).
