Elna (AEJ) Mouton is Associate Professor in New Testament Studies and first woman Dean of the Faculty of Theology, University of Stellenbosch, Stellenbosch, RSA. Mouton matriculated in Ceres (Western Cape Province) and attained a BA degree (University of Stellenbosch), a Diploma in Christian Service (Hugenuot College, Wellington), MA (University of Port Elizabeth) and D.Th degrees (University of Western Cape, Cape Town, 1995). Her dissertation, entitled Reading a New Testament Document Ethically, was published in 2002. Mouton started her career as Social worker in the Transkei, Eastern Cape (1975). Then she was involved in the multi-cultural and inter-denominational education of voluntary workers in the Hospital and Industrial Ministry (Port Elizabeth). In 1990 Mouton started lecturing Biblical Studies at the University of Port Elizabeth (UPE). Since 2000 she became Professor in Biblical Studies at UPE. Elna Mouton is author of numerous scholarly publications.
